Vocal Classes

The Vocal Music curriculum is spilt into 6 levels: Fundamentals, Novice 1, Novice 2, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert. Students will start with learning the Fundamentals, which revolve around the 7 shuddha swaras:

SA RE GA MA PA DHA NI

This is followed by alankaras, which are various permutations and combinations of these swaras. Finally, students will learn basic songs that have been composed using shuddha notes, as well as a basic understanding of 4/4 time.

The subsequent levels will start to explore various ragas & talas, different sub-genres of Hindustani sangeet (taranas, thumris, dhrupad, etc), as. well as aspects of Hindustani theory and the aesthetics of music.

Instrumental Classes

The Instrumental Music curriculum is also split in the 6 levels. The curriculum follows a similar flow to the vocal classes. Students will learn the Fundamentals, followed by ragas, talas, and theory. However, the focus is placed on the ability to seamlessly play through ragas, songs, and khyals both in a solo and accompaniment setting.

Students learning harmonium/keyboard will also learn how to derive their own notations to songs of their choice by ear.
